Tooth Whitening
Madeley Dental Practice are pleased to offer 3 options for tooth whitening...
Nite White:
(Cost: £275)
Closely fitting trays are made to fit your teeth.
We supply you with 6 tubes of carbamide peroxide tooth whitening gel, which you apply to your teeth in the trays for 4 to 8 hours each day, or overnight.
The gel supplied will normally last for two weeks of treatment, and in this time most patients achieve a good change in tooth colour.
If you wish to continue to enhance the tooth colour we can supply you with further solution at an extra charge of £30 for 3 top-up tubes.
You can keep the trays and ‘top-up’ the whitening if the shade begins to darken in the future.
Enlighten:
(Cost: £550)
This system also involves you wearing custom made trays over your teeth.
Whitening gel is placed in the trays overnight for a period of 14 nights.
On the 15th; day of treatment you will undertake a surgery procedure lasting approximately 1 hour with a stronger whitening gel to complete the whitening procedure.
This system will ensure a more predictable shade improvement.
There will be some whitening gel remaining for you to keep and use to ‘top-up’ your shade change in the future.
Zoom:
(Cost: £499)
This is an in-house procedure for patients who do not want to carry out any of the whitening at home, wearing trays.
We will carry out a two hour application of a light activated whitening gel to your teeth.
Although there is no home tray wear, the results can be unpredictable, with anything from a 2 shade to an 8 shade change in colour.
Unlike the other options, there is no easy way to ‘top-up’ the result, and a complete procedure will be necessary if the teeth begin to darken again.
You should be aware of the following:
- The amount of whitening varies with the individual. Teeth which are very dark, or have antibiotic staining will take longer to lighten.
- Whitening gel will not lighten the colour of existing crowns, veneers or other fillings; they may appear darker at the end of the treatment.
- Sensitivity of teeth may occur during treatment, and may mean that you have to wear the trays less frequently, or use desensitizing products, which we can recommend.
- Relapse of colour will occur gradually treatment, and ‘top-up’ treatments may be desired. The amount of re-staining will depend on the intake of tea, coffee and other coloured food drink..
Alternatives to whitening:
Tooth colour can also be changed with porcelain veneers or crowns. This is a more destructive process for otherwise healthy teeth. Whitening will improve tooth colour without removing tissue.
All patients need to discuss their suitability for tooth whitening procedures with their dentist. Please telephone to make an appointment.
